Knitting 101

Designed for the absolute beginner, this class will cover basic knitting techniques including casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, binding off, and weaving in ends. These skills will set you up to create easy projects such as coasters, washcloths, scarves, cowls, headbands, or fingerless mitts.

Day/Time: Mondays from 7:30-8:30pm

Dates: January 26, February 2, 9, 23, March 2, & 9 (NOTE: No class on February 16)

Location: Kenmore Junior/Senior High School (155 Delaware Rd. Kenmore, NY 14217)

Ages: 13 & up

Cost: $72.00

Required Materials:

  • Knitting Needles in any ONE of the following sizes:

    • US 10 (6.0 mm)

    • US 9 (5.5 mm)

    • US 8 (5.0 mm)

  • Yarn: One skein of economical worsted weight (category 4) yarn in a solid color (no variegated/multicolor yarn)

    • Recommended brands: Red Heart Super Saver, Big Twist

    • Recommended colors: medium shade (not too dark like black or navy, not too bright like white or bright yellow)

  • Scissors
